Fuel Feeder Tube for 79 CBX

I need a fuel feeder tube for a carb rebuild on a set of 79 CBX carbs - the one that goes between #5 and 6 carbs. I have one from a set of 82 carbs but discovered that it is larger in diameter, even though the bottom still fits the carb fuel orifices. If someone has the tube that I need, please let me know cost etc... Thanks.

John,

I am a little confused about what you are actually looking for. Do you have a vacuum valve on your CBX?
The original 79 carb had only one tube from the petcock to the carburetors....

Ditto on Mike's reply - there is only one fuel inlet on the '79 carbs and yes, it is 1/4 inch vs the 5/16 inch on the two inlets for the '80-'82 carbs. Your '79 set should have just an aluminum connector between 5 and 6.

Would I gain anything by putting another fuel tube between 5 and 6? The only one I have would be off of a cannabalized set of 82 carbs.

You would need a petock with a second outlet or add a "T" into the single line.

I can't say that there is absolutely no benefit to adding another fuel line, but I also can't see one that is obvious.

I used to hang around Harley guys a lot and to those who felt the need to shell out in excess of $100.- for a hi-flo Pingle petcock I always told this:

Fill your tank up fully. Disconnect the fuel line to the carb and route it into a large gasoline can.
Open the petcock and start a stop-watch.
Take the time it takes for the tank to drain completely- 20, maybe 25 minutes?
If your motor is capable of emptying the tank that fast, you need a high flow petcock.

Thank you. I am curious about that tank emptying.

John, i have read that only a BIG engine would require or benefit from the second gas line.
