Re: The Travesty
Brad:
I might replace that one set, but if the others look good and measure OK, why spend the money? They are all still available from Honda, but at over $20 per throw, replacement gets pretty pricey. These bottom ends, properly lubricated, will go easily 100K miles. Are you really going to wear them out?
I exclusively use Hondabond to seal case halves.

Re: The Travesty
Tried to find that number on my engine. No luck. Is it stamped or scribed? Anyone have a picture of the location? I want to know where to disturb my fresh paint.tombatt wrote: The engine date is on the back of the gearbox just above the swing-arm. On this bike it will start with 53
Thank you.

Thank you for the info. I appreciate your practical experience. I will replace the damaged set, and "LIGHTLY" polish the remaining sets. A couple sets came up ".003" clearance (service limit). I may replace those as well.
Thank you.

Re: The Travesty
Brad:
Most of your bearings look pretty typical.
The date code on the engine is on the very rear and it WAS stamped in black over the original paint. If you've done that over, then it's gone forever.

Actually, on the black engines the lettering was in white.
