Interesting Item

Post by EMS »

I had heard of it, but I had never seen one. Prolink turnsignal relocation kit, if you want to do away with the saddlebags and brackets. Original Hondaline kit. Part-number 08408-MA200. Probably rare in NOS condition. I have a set of the passenger foot guards on my '79 but I didn't know they came as part of this kit.

Mike:
Yes, that kit was offered over here for bag removal on the '81-'82s. You hardly see them and one was offered on ebay recently but didn't meet reserve @ $200 or so. The original price was around $35 if I remember right.

It would be nice to have (if) the front fairing could be easily removed and set up with a regular headlight in position. I've seen some Prolinks sans bags and fairing that looked pretty nice.
It ain't the destination, its the journey...

Removing the fairing and installing a headlight isn't much more difficult than relocating the turnsignals, provided you have the parts. The holes for the headlight holder from the 79/80 are in the fork bridges. Most difficult part is getting rid of the cable connector box. You have to stuff everything into the headlight.

Headlight

It would be the perfect time to put that 8" headlight on the bike.

For entertainment purposes, I just listed one of these kits on eBay.
It will be interesting to see if it will sell seven years after this thread was started.
Very Best,
Phil

I still keep mine in the parts stash. Together with a truckload of other CBX parts. 8) I figure one of these days, the stuff will help extend my retirement reserve....

I think that they are intended to keep your feet and clothing away from the rear wheel.

My thoughts exactly Mike. I am starting to trickle out a few small parts. I have a bid already on the kit, so it will sell :-) That will pay this month's power bill.
Very Best,
Phil
