Does anyone know of CBX Mechanics in the vicinity of Spokane | Coeur D'Alene, ID| | Missoula, MT area?
I'm looking for a mechanic.

That might be a tall order - there are few CBX specialists in the whole country, let alone in your area. What is it that you need worked on?

Yeah, Nils is a 12 hour round trip and over the passes. I am not looking at going that direction. I was hoping there would be a shop near Spokane/CDA area.

I'm completely serious, don't know what specifics you need. I would not trust my CBX to anyone that does not have a proven track record of working on CBXs. I'm just telling you, there are only a scant handful of guys that are able, and more important, willing to work on them. You are looking at shipping your bike or a long road trip. Guys have shipped/hauled CBXs to me from all over the East and Canada, the same was true for Nils when he was doing this work, JR in Michigan (although I don't know how much whole customer bike work he does these days). Preston in Florida just does engine rebuilding these days. Jan and crew work on customer's bikes in Columbus, OH. There are individuals on the West coast that do good CBX work, others here may make recommendations.

But very near where you are, there's no one I've ever heard of.

This is not quite in the Spokane area but they do work on CBXs and other classic bikes in the NW. The shop is called Classic Moto Works and is in Newberg Oregon. I have visited them on several occasions and left impressed many times. The work they have done for me, mostly vapor blasting and polishing, has been done very well and at a reasonable price.

As far as Classic Moto Works, here is some recent CBX vapor honing work (it is not my cylinder head though). Some work they did for me awhile back is shown on the foot peg plates. They stripped, vapor honed and polished the plates and brake arm. They even left the side plate's decals in place during the process, saving me $ and the originally of the bike. The shop owners are Alan (dad) and Jason (son) Green. They do things from metal refinishing to carbs to customizations. I am impressed with their quality and meeting the customer's needs with each bike. Just trying to point out a really good resource in this area.

If you're willing to cross the border into Canada "Vass Performance Cycle", a small town 30minutes north of Calgary about 8 1/2 hour drive from you. Willie Vass is in a league of his own, the go to guy for CBX and every other bike you may own. A one man shop in small town doesn't advertise much I can't even find a website but he doesn't need to as his reputation gives him all the business he can handle. He has an extensive racing background and bikes come into his shop from across Canada. USA dollar exchange rate should help with paying for the work.

A great guy, if you go bring him a box of donuts when you arrive.
