speedometer trim ring

Post by itsacbx »

Hay all, The light tube inside my speedo had broken loose, so to dismantle the unit and get it back in place and secured, I had to pull off the trim ring and in the process I buggered it........well not really but its pretty rough.......
Light tube is back in place, and Ive obtained new foam mounts but now I need a trim ring.
Can anyone direct me to a source for the rings please?
Thanks
Al

Was those rings ever available separately?

Now you have me thinking.
Is it not part #2 in this schematic?

I have some extra chrome rings if that is what he needs. I guess I presumed he needed the black ring that you have to pry out that you have to take off to take the gauges apart. I have never screwed up the chrome ring dissembling the gauges.

I think he’s asking for the black ring you pry off. They were never available separately. You’ll have to buy a junk one and pry off the ring.

Or if you haven't buggered the top ring too badly you can buy an extra set of the chrome trim rings, flip the extra chrome ring upside down, place it on top of the original chrome ring, then drop the gauge in, the reversed chrome ring will cover the bent lip of the top ring and you'll never notice the second chrome trim ring.

yes indeed I screwed up the crimp ring getting it off......
Ive purchased parts from CB750 faces before and quality is very good, so Im going to go with that option as I now have a local expert who has developed a jig for his lathe for rolling the crimp ring properly.
If this is the only thing I screw up during my resto Ill be pretty happy.....

I bought a set from cb750fsces.com ant they are great! You can only buy them as a set tho. Their replacement faces are just like factory too, very thick and heavy
