Gear lever bushing

Post by Kool_Biker »

Hi everyone, good to be back!
Although I have been quiet for some time, I have been following our excellent on-line community and the myriad CBX issues arising!

So I have a question. My gear lever has become a bit sloppy. So I got a set of bronze bushing from Holland to do the replacement work.
As I was dismantling the assembly I was surprised to notice the existing bushings (see attached pic) to be of ferrous material construction (magnetic!).
Is this right or has anyone been there before me?

Best regards
Aris

Either garage is too small or we have too many bikes. Or Momma's car needs to go outside.

Good to hear from you Aris! I think of you from time-to-time. Your lever looks like it has the stock bushing to me. Don't lose the felt sealing rings!

Yes, Aris, the stock bushing is of ferrous material. It is magnetic. 8) 8)

My guess/assumption --- powdered metal. Makes for good bushing in this type application. However, a good bronze Oilite type should serve well.

Hi folks,

Sorry it took so long to acknowledge you greetings, I was away.
It's good to be back, although in reality I never left as I frequently enjoy browse our excellent site.

Thanks for the info, I have now put a new set from Holland, these are definitely not ferrous, seem to have improved matters markedly.

Best regards!!!

Assuming Holland means you got the part from Bert at SixCenter?
Aris, it seems like we always learn something from your posts.
