49-state vs U.S. vs. California emissions

Post by Rolls »

Anticipating the arrival of my CBX from Michigan, I've been reading up on importing motorcycles into California from other, i.e., normal, states. Pretty restrictive for vehicles 1978 and newer. Lots of talk about the sticker needing to say specifically that it meets California standards.

Has anyone had any problem registering a CBX in California? What does the emissions sticker say for those originally sold in California? Were these bikes 50 state emissions legal in 1979? Thanks for any reassurance anyone can offer. Couldn't find anything relevant from searching.

No special CA CBXs. All were 50-state compliant then.

Dave, would that still apply as his bike has a Denco system?
Just curious.

Well, that's encouraging. The 50-state certification is the key thing. I *think* for the exhaust, they might have some grounds to hassle me, but maybe lack the expertise or motivation to bother with it. Will find out pretty soon.
