carb synch adjusters

Good day, I am a little confused by what I have under the seat of my 81 cbx1000, there are 6 valves that attach to the vacuum outlets on the carbs where you would normally hook your carb sticks. The person I bought the bike from has passed away and I am not sure how to operate this cool setup. Does anyone have any knowledge of this setup and how it operates? It looks like it is a easier way to synch the carbs but I have no idea how it works.

I have never seen this before, but it looks like it is a system of extensions to the vacuum ports on each carburetor. I;m not sure why it was done, except maybe it is easier to get to these ports instead of the ones actually on the carburetors.

Built by someone who loves to sync their carbs frequently?!

Looks like you would screw the little brass stoppers out and screw your extensions for the gauges into the holes. Seems like a lot of effort for something that is not a regular adjustment.

And it is a vacuum leak disaster waiting to happen. Vacuum line gets old and cracks very quickly.

Hmmmm. A complex answer to a simple problem? To me, it appears the former owner wanted to sync the carbs using only two gauges. But I agree with Dave, remove it before it causes grief.

In addition, the extra vacuum space may reduce the efficiency of getting fuel to where it matters...
