Has anyone done LSR on a CBX?
Hey all.
I've been hunting around a bit to see what I can find about land speed record racing on CBX's or CBX-powered bikes - and I've not found anything.
Does anyone have any pointers? Or is this just something that's not really done?

Research Tom Neimeyer, he was the builder and his son was the driver of a turbo CBX, the club sponsored them and there are a few write ups about them and the bike in a few of the CBXPresses archived here.

I believe that there is an LSR CBX currently under construction in Sweden. A good friend of mine picked up a couple of engines from me and shipped them over there with his belongings
as he is returning home to Sweden after 20 years here in the states. The plan is to build a bike for Bonneville.
Best,
Phil

Another interesting CBX land speed record article. Click link below which takes you to the old ICOA site

and then click on the story
The Ongoing Quest for the 200MPH CBX
Other neat stuff available at the old site as well.

Re: Has anyone done LSR on a CBX?
I just re-read some of it myself, it's pretty amazing how much info is out there that gets forgotten over time but Tom and his son's Bonneville days were exciting times around the ICOA, they got a lot of coverage and support from the club. We had a great time at an ICOA National rally in Marlinton WV when Tom, his son and Mitchel brought the Bonneville bike, I'm sure there were a few by-runs that weekend.
Tom is not your typical Texan but very quite and mild mannered, he admitted to me later on in the rally that he was a bit apprehensive about making such a long and expensive trip just to be with a group of guys he didn't know from Adam with questionable qualities. He said he wasn't in the parking lot of the motel more than 2 mins before a dozen people were surrounding him shaking his hand and unloading his gear and he felt welcome from then on.
One memory I have and will always cherish is the Bluegill fish dinner Mitchel and I shared, cooked up on the tailgate of my Dodge pickup in front of my motel room, Mitchel passed away a few yrs later.
Make your own memories, ride your CBX and make a friend.
