Clearance question

Post by whatscooking »

When I look under the fuel tank, when mounted, I see on the right side that the twisted wire thing that holds the clutch cable one side and the throttle\choke cables on the other side is rubbing on the fuel tank on the right side. This part bolts to the coils for a support for the cables. I looked at both 79es I have and they both do this. Have I got them mounted wrong?

I couldn't find a pic in my stash but you can see the alignment in this EBay auction.

It will easily bend enough to clear the tank.

My Accel coils have a higher (thicker) mounting lug than the OEM ones, and since this wire guide mounts on top of the coil lugs, I made a bit of a 'z' bend in it's base leg to further reduce the height where it was rubbing on the underside of the tank.
