Fuel tank rubber

Post by ajs350 »

Having taken the fuel tank off I found one of these rubbers on the floor. Where do these go? I've looked at the tank and frame and can't figure it out! The parts diagram shows 2 of them and they are part number 17541-422-000.
Thanks Ross

they go on the tank in the front about halfway down. There is probly a metal tab crimped on the tank. These rubber pieces wrap around them. One of my bikes have them the other two don't.

Ross,

Those are for the front edge of the fuel tank. On my '82 I have the right side attached, and on the left side, the rubber is missing but the clip that holds the rubber to the tank is still mounted.

So, if you accidentally lose the other one, send this one my way please :P

This is what they look like and where they go:

The right side:

Steve and tevan,
Thanks for the replies. Now I know exactly where to put the rubbers. Appreciate the help.

Honda calls them 'moles' and last I checked, the metal clips and rubbers were still available new. For that finishing touch on a restoration!
