Ok Guy's I have a question, I am thinking about installing 81 or 82 wheels on my 80 and before I buy I was wondering if anyone else has done this and if it is a straight "bolt on", how about it ?

i know the 81 forks work better but you need the 81 triple trees which bolt on.

We discussed this before elsewhere, but handling may suffer, if you put a Prolink Fork into an early CBX. :!: In order to maintain the same wheelbase, Honda changed the offset in the triple tree to compensate for the increased rake in the 81/82 models. This will cause your trail to shrink significantly in a 79/80. Steering may become too quick and straight line stability is lacking. :!:

EMS, How about just putting 81/82 wheels on an 80, the rear looks like a straight bolt on but I'm not sure about the front, I'd like to use the 80 brakes and calipers. Thanks Steve P. 5220

Steve:

I have not doen a wheel conversion. You may have to play with the spacers in the rear, no biggie. the fornt, I agree, may be a different story as the rotors and calipers are also different. Maybe someone alse has done it?
