Will a '79 fuel tank fit an '81 frame?

Post by BayArchitect »

I need a damaged tank to fit an '81 frame, but the bottom needs to be good. I'll cut out the bottom and fit it to a custom tank for the CBX project. When I'm done I'll publish the results on this site. I don't know if a '79/'80 tank will fit the '81/'82 frame. If you know, please tell me.

Leon:
Yes, an early tank will bolt right up to the late model. It's the seat conversion that's a little more work, but you can figure that out.

I have a late model tank in San Diego you're welcome to. It's good.

Early '79 CBX tanks did not have the slot cut out in the locating tabs, so you may have to exercise a dremel or a hacksaw to make it fit....
Good judgement comes from experience. Experience comes from bad judgement.
