I need a good set of Metric feeler gauges...

To adjust the valves on a CBX, I'd like to own a set of good quality Metric feeler gauges from 0.01 to 0.15 in 0.005 increments (approximately 30 gauges total). Is this available somewhere?

any auto parts store, the set i have i bought at auto zone and they are marked in inches and milimeters

We have a local tool place where I get metric tools. If you can't find anything off the shelf in CA, I will be more than happy to get you one. I am also going to Germany in December and can pick up a few, if anybody else is in need.

I checked with McMaster, and Sears, and the local stores. McMaster replied that they don't have anything close. Sears and the local stores certainly don't have it (them). I cannot find 1/2 the leaves that I need. Here they are again: METRIC: with a range from 0.01 to 0.15 in 0.005 increments. NOT Standard sizes. I looked for standard equivalents, and can't find them either. Any ideas? Someone, somewhere in the world must make these leaves...

One reason you not getting anywhere may be the dimensions you are giving:



Metric feeler gauges are sized in mm thickness.



0.01 mm is one hundredth of a mm and 0.005 is 5 thousandths of a mm.

The thinnest feeler gauge in mm to work on valves that I have seen is 0.05mm. In a pack they usually go up all the way to 1mm in 0.05mm increments.

0.01mm = 4/10,000 inch

0.15mm = 6/1000 inch

0.005mm = 2/10,000 inch

Just give me 0.01 thru 0.15 in 0.01 increments. I can't find it. Think about this: The CBX requires a gap of 0.1. Thickness gauge manufacturers provide a set that (in the best case) goes from 0.03 thru 0.1 in 0.01 increments. Then they jump to 0.15, then to 0.2. If you try to gap a machine that has a larger clearance than 0.1, it gets messy. So, if anyone out there comes across a set of feeler gauges that will fill this out, please let me know.

Here is the quote from my local tool supplier:

Upon asking, they tell me this is a kit of individual feelers, packed in a vinyl case with individual blade pockets. May not be as handy as my compact German-sourced "fold-out" feeler holder, but has exactly the same blades and mine has done the CBX valve adjustment job many times. If you have a valve clearance larger than 1mm, it is probably wise to replace the cams as the lobes may look rather bad.

Steps of 0.01mm are not available by no-one as they would be too difficult to make. The TOLERANCE of the thicker feelers above 0.5mm is already larger than 0.01. Again, for anybody who does not want to believe this, look at rbarbers' conversion info. 0.01mm = 4 tenthousands of an inch.

I have a set of gauges in my hand that is made in China, which is made in increments of 0.01. Tolerances can easily be held to this increment above any thickness. I'm just having trouble finding a feeler gauge with these increments above 0.1. The reason is DEMAND.
