Scratches in chrome

Post by acadia81 »

Any ideas how to get rid of fine scratches in chrome. The mufflers on my

'82 CBX have scratches from passengers shoes. I tried buffing with rubbing compound, it helped a bit but the scratches are still quite noticeable. Any help would be appreciated, Thanks.

Its hard to get them out completely, you start with big scratches and work your way down to little scratches basicly. different grades of scotch brite pads with semichorme as a rubbing agent, then steel wool all the way to superfine still using simechrome, then finish up with a soft cotton rag and semichrome or your favorite chrome polisher.
