Are there two types of 1979 Tank Emblems?

Post by hardlyrock »

I could not find any info on tank badge differences. On my 1979 there two types both with the small screw holes. See photos.
One type is smooth around the letters and the other one seems thicker and has a crosshatch pattern around the letters.
Most of the ones I see are smooth background. Did all 1980s have large holes in the badges? Perhaps these are small hole 1980?
Who has the answer?

Crosshatch with 3mm holes are original '79 only. Smooth with 4mm holes are original '80. Smooth 3 and 4mm are Honda replacements for both.
