Powdercoating or Painting Gold Boomerangs

I have a set of CB1100F Gold Boomerangs that are in good shape, but tired (faded anodizing and multiple scratches). I would like to powdercoat them, but I am worried they may not coat properly due to the anodizing. I've powdercoated before and had issues with parts that had coating that were not completely stripped off. The powdercoat would bubble up. Has anyone powdercoated theirs and if so, what was the prep and the final outcome. I am contemplating getting them painted if there is a chance of them not coating well.

A guy over on cb1100f.net has powdercoated some boomies in the past. They no longer look anodized of course, but I thought they turned out pretty well. If interested, here is a link to his website: http://www.tomscyclerecycling.com/index.html He does great powder coating work and is very reasonable, but unfortunately he is in the U.S. and a long way from you. You might contact him to see how he preped the wheels before coating.

I can't paste his picture of the wheels here because they're too large, but here are a couple of links:

Hope this helps.

If you want to keep the gold anodized look or even go with a different anodized color there is an outfit here in the states that will do it.

When I get to work tonight I'll pull up the business for you.

I haven't used them yet myself but the work I have seen looks very good.

Lee, i had my Boomerangs powder coated black about 5 years ago and they still look great.
They cleaned but did not blast the rims first and i have had zero problems.

Those look good. I want to powdercoat mine satin black and have a candy red or gold stripe painted on the lip.

The Boomerangs should powdercaot just fine. Anodizing is not really a coating. It is oxydizing the aluminum surface through an electrolytic process. Anodization changes the microscopic texture of the surface and changes the crystal structure of the metal near the surface.
