carb boot clamps refinish

Post by tevan »

I am wanting to repaint my carb boot clamps but I don't know what color to paint them. It looks like a army surplus green color on them. I know I can buy some from RANDACKS but I want to keep original. I like the look better. Has anybody done this?????????????

I believe the original finish was a black zinc coating which has a slight green tinge when freshly replated. I had a lot of difficulty finding someone who did black zinc, but eventually found a company not far from home who could do the process. The advantage with plating over painting is you don't get a buildup on the clamp and you get a uniform finish all over. Les.
