Speedo needle has gone home

Post by Michael Vidovic »

Hi
My X has just lost the speedo needle, broke in two while out on a run-does that mean I'm only doing half the speed? Anyway, is there anyone who has info on opening the speedo and fixing the needle or replacing it? Tried to get good info on Google but it was lacking detail. Or can I replace an American speedo with a kilometre one-does it fit straight on? Where would I be able to get a good one? Any help appreciated.

There are several threads here on gauge restoration. Broken needles are becoming very common as they age. Very good used gauges are getting pricey as well. Yes, a KM gauge will bolt right on and work fine.

Any ideas where I might source one?

Your best bet would be the German ebay site. ebay.de
The European Bol d'Or instruments are the same. They are more plentiful there. I don't think you would want a new one, do you?
