Anyone up for a game of what the heck is this?
Hi guys
Some items in the bottom of the box of parts the previous owner gave me for a barn find CBX I recently acquired. I think some of them are the bolts that mate the seat and tail section, but the others I'm not so sure. Any guesses? TIA.
Thanks
Hale

#1) bolt from upper rear motor mount
#3) screws for handlebar switch.
#5) bolt and washer for primary sprocket.
#7) upper rear motor mount
#8) air box intake lid screws
#9) primary sprocket cover bolts
#6) and black #2 might be the top screws for the air filter box?
Best,
Phil

I concur with Phil.
Having just gone through a box of spares Phil is spot on.

Those airbox screws are getting scarce I think!

Don't remember, but do the sprocket cover bolts have shoulders like the valve cover bolts?

Phil's got it, I think. #4 looks like a chrome lower rear motor mount bolt (for the upper rear mount shown), but the scale of the size does not look right, compared to what's around it. Early ones were chrome, later ones were black.
The other odd one looks like one of the 4 bolts that mount the tail light to it's frame, but it looks to have been painted.

#4 could be the pillion foot peg mount

Except #4 does not have a tapered end.

Mine doesn't either. The one that bolts the footpeg looks like that, the tapered end one was for the forward mount of the exhaust bracket. Both sides had similar setups but of course may not be correct.daves79x wrote:Except #4 does not have a tapered end.

Your footplate bolts sound correct. Yes, forward one is tapered, rear one is not, but I don't think that's it. Still think it is the rear mm bolt for the rear bracket shown.

Is there a prize ??
I am inclined to agree with Dave on #4. Especially because we already have one of the upper, short black bolts in here already.
Best,
Phil

Don't know. To me, the bolt looks a little too long and too skinny for a motor mount. Maybe it is a generic bolt the PO used instead of an original CBX fastener somewhere.FalldownPhil wrote:Is there a prize ??

Remember Mike, that bottom bolt on the rear triangle mount goes through a pretty wide casting on the head. Fun game anyway. I've seen it played on the GL 1800 site and others. Maybe I'll post some odd-ball part pic and see what everyone knows!
