engine out and soda blasted pleased with the results.
frame and black metal parts off to powder coaters.
tank sealed and away at my mates to be painted glory red.
he are some pics of progress so far.

Is that all the masking off/plugging you have to do when using soda?
I thought there was still some residue.

the masking tape is from when it was soda blasted just left it in there for now.

spent a 3 hours on the polishing machine fairlee pleased with results so far a bit more to do on it to finish.
i think all the crap came off the cover and on to me I was like a coal miner when i had finished what a messy job

Try doing it by hand and you get the same mess, crippled hands and no fingerprints.

Are you planning on a clear coat when you are done? I have read good and bad on that. Some end up with the coat yellowing.

MAAS has a great line of polishes and a metal protector that will chemically seal your polished piece. After you polish your piece a once a season coat of the protector will keep it from dulling.

wasnt going to clear coat it, as you say steve it would most probably turn yellow
will just keep on top of it.

hey guys

I recently had some alum parts from another project "vapour blasted" and they came out really nice. the fellow that did the blasting recommended a product called ACF-50 so I had him apply it. it is the same sort of thing in that it protects the raw alum for a season at least unless you ride in salty conditions which I doubt most of us are. they also use this product in the U.K. on the entire bike to "winterize" it for winter riding. apparently the crud from winter just washes off, and its is claimed good for elec. connections. Google it and check it out.
