VIN Plate Drive Screw Size

Post by ezridermn »

I just had my 1982 CBX Prolink frame powdercoated. I now need to reattach the VIN Plate. I intend to use contact cement and drive screws. Can anyone tell me what size drive screws to use?

Thanks for your help.

You can get almost exact replacement fluted rivets from McMaster-Carr.

Just an update so others will know. I used number two 1/4" long drive screws to attach the VIN plate to my bike frame. I drilled a 3/32" hole put some glue on the plate and drove in the screws. It was easy and it turned out looking just like it originally did.

Thanks to Dave for recommending McMaster-Carr. They were a great source for the drive screws. Seemed fair priced and I got the drive screws in two days.

Buy an M3 tap and tap the 2 holes.
Use 2 x M3 stainless button head screws.
