A garage find close to home

A garage find close to home

Postby Irishman1 » Fri Oct 04, 2019 10:13 pm

In June I had my 1979 cbx at a car show and a woman came up to me and said ‘ I have one of these’... yeah, I’ve heard that before. Then she said hers had black wheels though.. her first husband had bought a new cbx in 1980 then died in 84. She kept it in the garage with his other stuff until she remarried. The new husband was a motorcycle guy and knew he needed to keep fresh fuel in it and start it frequently. Well he lost my number and went on a Facebook page to find me. The wife wanted someone to have it and bring it back to the shape it was in back in the day.
Started right up but needs a battery and some cosmetic work. All the brakes were frozen solid.
Stripped her down to the frame, epoxied the frame and swing arm. Painted all black metal parts. Painted all black plastic parts and cleaned and painted the engine. I cleaned, painted and rebuilt all the calipers and masters. New cables and replaced anything else with parts I had laying around
