1979 Six Center Clutch Kit

Post by Patriotprop »

Has anyone have experience with the clutch rubber kit sold by six center for the 1979 ? My friend had one and plans to use it, I want to order one but wonder if it works ? Is it hard to make threads for the bolts ?

I've used several of the kits and they are pretty easy to install. Take care in drilling and smoothing the heads of the rivets and they will drive out pretty easily - if not they go pretty hard and you can crack the boss from hitting too hard. After that, the remaining holes are exactly the right size to thread. Takes a bit of time to do it, but pretty easy. Instructions are good and everything but the tap is included.

The result won't be as quiet as the late model baskets are, but will lessen the rattle considerably. Careful carb sync will finish the job.
