When hot the engine will not turn, battery seams flat.

This bike starts very easily when cold and when run a short distance.If run for approx 10kms and stop,it will not turn,its as though the battery is flat.After 15 mins or so it will start easily.I changed battery and same problem.Did read at one time on this site that it may be the starter motor,but cant find it any more.Any thoughts please?

Hope for bad ground or loose connections but worn brushes act this way also.

I found the problem as was the starter motor.The bearing did not turn freely,the brushs were very worn with lots of loose carbon.Am even surprised that was able to start the bike.

Glad you found the problem. Some of these starters have been subjected to a lot of use/abuse trying to get these things started.

When I had the same problem on my CBX - albeit many years ago, I found the spring which provides the drive on the alternator clutch had lost some tension. As a result, the alternator was barely turning - so there wasn't enough charge to keep everything going. By the time it'd got cold, the battery had livened up a little, so it would start again!
