Three holes

Post by broook »

On the left side front of the lower engine case there are two holes. On the right side front there is only one hole. My engine guard is bolted through two of these but what is the other one there for? :?

Yes it appears that way. Pretty hard to do though. When the guys with the "Digest" modes get their mail I imagine somebody will come up with an answer.

If you look at the repair manual, you will see Honda uses an engine stand that use these holes you are talking about. Also, after market mfgs also use existing holes to make accessories for motorcycles. Hondaline made an engine guard years ago that used the holes in the engine hangers to mount the guard. I suspect this is the situation with the holes or tabs cast into the cases. Why there is two on one side and only one on the other is a mystery to me.
