Final Drive Seal Replacement

Post by Samelak »

Is it possible to change out the final drive seal for the front sprocket without splitting the cases? If so, what is the method?

You can do it, but it's pretty ugly and does not always work. I'd split the cases, but then I've done it a million times. Just make sure it's not the o-ring on the sprocket bolt first.

I guess it depends on whether you want to spend the cost of the seal, the couple hours of your time it takes to so it VS splitting the cases. I'd rather do it the easy way and if the seal doesn't work, then split the cases, I have done a couple over the years and none of them have leaked and the guys I did them for liked the cost savings VS the cost of splitting the cases.
