Ford initiated all kinds of performance unfriendly engine mods in the 70's to comply with federal emissions requirements - lower compression, softer cam profiles, open-chamber heads, ignition timing altering vacuum gizmos, etc. Luckily, most Panteras don't have stock engines anymore - mine included. I do have a number matching 351-C block, but it's been reloaded with 10:1 forged pistons, a medium agressive cam, a dual-plane aluminum intake sitting under a 750 dp Holley, and tube headers with stock looking but gutted mufflers. In the current configuration, it's somewhere around 400 hp, which for a 3000 lb car makes it very quick - not hair-on-fire acceleration but it does shove you into the seat. It sounds pretty mean as well.

I'll post a few photos after I get home from work.

I am looking forward to that. A video with sound wouldn't hurt a bit either. :)

O-O-OK??!! I just got lost how this related to the upper rev range performance of a CBX and big-bore kits on a CBX, etc as the thread was started.

A fewPantera photos: just after crossing the finish line at the Big Bend Open Road Race, the Ital-Fest car show, and on the grid at Texas World Speedway during a Space City Panteras track day.

Sorry for the thread drift, now back to CBX land.

That's a beauty Dave, I was a fifteen yr old kid when they came out and a neighbor's father owned one, so you can imagine my lust for that exotic machine after seeing it for the first time. My friends father would let him back it out of the garage into the driveway to wash it every Saturday. I would spend Friday nights over his house on sleepovers and stay there until my friend backed the Pantera out to wash it the next morning.

It was yellow just like the one you're behind in the queue there in the pic you posted, his father ended up losing the car in a divorce.

It sounds like you have it sorted nicely and are enjoying it at the track, it fits right in with all the other newer track cars in your pics, I bet it gets a lot of thumbs up.

Larry keep up. :teasing-poke:

OooK! I won't go into any 'war stories' here. But, how did the big-bore kit work out?!
