Physical difference's between clutches

What are the physical differences between the early/late model clutch baskets? From what I see in parts diagrams looks like the early model has 3 springs and later version 6. That sound right? My '80's clutch has 6 springs. Quite a few years I changed out the clutch but want to confirm what version... more so for the second washer which the later version requires.

79 and 80 versions didn't have springs in the basket, just rivets. The 81 and 82 versions have the springs in the clutch basket.

The early clutch baskets have hard rubber 'pucks' in place of the springs - 6 on a '79 and 9 on the '80 I believe. The rubber gets hard and loses elasticity running in the hot oil and then the clutch rattles. Rebuilding the baskets involves drilling out the rivets that hold it together, replacing the rubber pucks and then putting it back together with bolts and nuts

ProLink baskets use springs and look similar to automotive style clutches

Thanks. That clarifies why there were two washers used for the clutch sleeve. Been so long ago since I changed it out and recent medical condition that I second/third guess myself on many things.

From doing a bit more reading now come to understand the 2 clutch versions use different sleeves. What are the differences?

Thanks. I have both sleeves and washers just not sure which one I had to use. Now, with the dimensions, I can measure and install correct parts in the correct order.
