All good points. I am trying to rush the bike (unsuccessfully) to 1K Km, then do a thorough service to also include valves, cam chains and ignition timing in depth.

For now it is a joy to ride and observe how the motor gets sweeter and the exhaust note crispier, by the day :violin: .

But rarely go over 6K RPM and plan to stick to this to about 1K Km.

BTW, I have done a compression test. All 6 cylinders are within 10% but I know this will change (for the better I hope) when the rings bed in, and valves adjusted more accurately.

Cheers, Aris

Chees all!
So far so good and indeed, I AM enjoying my bike.

Due to various commitments I am making excruciatingly slow progress towards its first 1K Km service; but so far, it is looking good :handgestures-fingerscrossed: !

Thanks for your continued support.

Very nice, Aris.
Nice to see you enjoying the ride.
It's a major psychological victory for you, as well, as we all know how these problems can get one down, if you let them.

Hope you are not suffering too much from the Austerity Program and strikes over there.

We are, of course suffering Barryadam.

Regardless of one's personal well being, it is astounding to witness on a daily basis a beautiful and blessed country being destroyed, in the hands of incompetent 'politicians' with huge egos, lacking any form of strategy, incapable to see beyond 1 month ahead. Politicians who've never run a corner shop or seen, let alone balance, a P&L in their lives.

Greece is in for a heck of a rough ride which will last many years. It is solely responsible for most that's happening at the moment. But, there a lot of canny 'scape goating' by the media, local and international, as well; as I am sure you are all aware, the EU, where Greece's economy makes a tiny spec, is in a hell of a mess all by itself!!

Most important, what you see in the news is what's happening at the very centre of Athens with a radious of ~1 mile, outside the Parliament building where our 'Nobel Prize' politicians are working hard to finish the country. The rest of Athens is very quiet, safe and friendly as always (for now).

Thankfully for our (my) soul, once you get out of Athens (the Peloponnese is always my favourite) you are welcomed by a most beautiful, peaceful and friendly country.
Which reminds me; it is Saturday morning, skys are crear, temps will reach ~25'C, roads are empty and I really need to finish running in my Z; now where's that helmet ...

All the best, Aris

All good people,

This post began May 7. I feel today, October 27, almost 6 months and a myriad posts later, we can close it AT LAST.
And at least where I come from, call it a great success story. :laughing-rollingyellow:

Earlier on today I finally completed 1K great Km, on my freshly re- rebuilt CBX.
P1090690 - Version 2.jpg
A far cry from my previous experience (when within its maiden 175 Km the engine destroyed itself), this time the engine felt great, pulled like an ox, with plenty of oil pressure and seemingly feeling better (loosening up?) with every additional Km :D .

And the best news: Both, the magnetic sump plug and the sump itself were almost spotless and free from ferrous debris which, back then, was the ominous tel tale of my wows and doomed engine, as it was munching itself to nothing through glass contamination.

It's been a heck of a trip which I enjoyed thoroughly and in the process learned a tremendous amount of new and interesting things.
Most amazing though, throughout, has been YOUR support and real time like response to any silly question I might have had
Thank you ICOA!

My bike is not perfect yet, but is now a reliable (he thinks) and mostly enjoyable motorcycle where I look forward to ironing out and mostly experiment with carburation and ignition.

All the best, Aris

P.S. See you all, soon, through many other new and older posts

Congratulations Aris. It's been quite a journey but you made it in the end and along the way you taught us a all a lot.
Now you can just enjoy the ride!
Cheers
