countershaft oil seal

Post by axel »

82 cbx 75000 kms trouble free, now an oil leak from the countershaft sprocket.

Can this oil seal be replaced without splitting the cases? Has anyone done it? Need info soon as I am leaving on a trip in about 4 days.

Thanks guys.

Shaft Seal

Although I have never done it, I have been told you can replace it without splitting the cases. The best way, and the way it was designed, is to split the cases. :(

The seal has a extruding lip that seats into a groove in the cases. What people have said is the lip can be cut off and the seal pushed into place. I suspect it will work but I have never tried it. :?:
