Valve Tool

Post by EMS »

My valve spring compression tool does not work on a CBX head. Does someone know of a tool I can buy that does work or do I have to find an arm and a leg to take to the Honda dealer for 07757-0010000?

Googled the part number, these guys claim to have that # for $66.95. No previous experience with them though.

Oops! Never mind. I'd delete this, but there is no delete button.

If you have a welder available to you, one can be made using a 8" C clamp and weld a short piece of tubing (~1.5") to the swivel end. Cut a slice or 2 out of the length of tubing to access the keepers. Weld another short piece to the other end that will give you clearance into the head (about 3/4").
Tweezers, picks and a stick magnet will also be needed to grab those tiny keepers.

Thanks, J.R., I was thinking of making a piece of tube similar to your description as an adapter for my compression tool. This would go over the recessed valve and allow me to use the tool. But as you know, nothing beats a tool that fits. :D :D

Even if you don't have a welder . . . . those short pieces of tubing could be permanantly attached to the C clamp using Marine-Tex or any other similar eopxy and they would be permanetly on there. For years the hardware store dispays for Marine-Tex were a Coke bottle with a section of tire carcass glued to the side - You were 'invitied' to grab them and try to separarte the two

I would scuff up the metal on the clamp a little with a rough file and then fill the end of the tube with 1/4 inch or so of the epoxy and press them together by tightening the clamp for 24 hours - You'll never break it

Sure beats spending $75 . . . .

I know I probably could have rigged something, but I have 3 (maybe 4)heads to work on and I like the right tools for the right job. Summit Racing came through. $49.95, and I had it within a day!
Works outstanding with the small end!
