Piston Rings

Post by EMS »

Anybody know the difference between a set of piston rings for the CB900F and the CBX? (same bore).

Guessing, if there was any difference it would be in the width ( thickness) but I'm sure you ( Mike) have summed that up already....

I am really stumped here. I see a lot pf places sell the CB900F rings (438s) for the CBX. But if the set were the same, they would have the same part-number and they don't. I know what the CBX ring set looks like, but I have not seen a CB900F set. Even the Prolink parts list shows the 422 rings.

Right now, I am thinking the CBX has a 3-piece oil control ring with an expander. The 900F may have a one-piece cast iron ring. Anybody can confirm that?
