Is there still a larger capacity oil cooler available?

Post by rdragoo »

I was bidding on a 13 row oil cooler on flee bay and the seller stopped the auction. I'm sure someone bought it outright. I live near the Mojave desert and could really use a higher capacity oil cooler. Does anyone still make these 13 row units?
Thanks to the group,
Randy

I am not sure, if this is the same as 415ZR1's kit, but in another thread we discussed this auction and I thought we determined it was a CB1100R oil cooler with a custom made bracketry. I have been watching this auction too and it is the second time the seller ends an auction. He did the same on a special V&H prepped CBX tranny. As far as I am concerned, I am boycotting this seller on ebay. (Could very well be , Louis is happy with him  )

Earl's still make a 13 row cooler.
They also have mounting brackets, connectors and lines.
You should be able to order their stuff from any car hot rod shop.
Earl's coolers show up on E-bay rather regularly.

Thanks guys,
I'll check earls directly. If not, I'll just have to watch for one to show up. Aside from the special fittings on top of the cooler, it looks just like any ordinary cooler to me. I don't think it would be that difficult to make a factory looking unit with the right pieces.

If you talk about the cooler on ebay, the fittings are regular Honda and were like this on the CB1100R cooler. Nothing special.

This one looks very similar to the one that George (CBXtacy) put on his road race bike. He should be able to confirm.

The fittings look "suspiciously" like they have been sweated/soldered/welded in, in which case an adapter would have to be used or hose ends changed......

Mike, Do you know what bike this came off?Do you think its a CB1100R for sure? Wish I did have it. Still need a direct bolt up for my Turbo. This one looks like it will be perfect and bigger than the one I have now. (1100f) No problem for Preston to make a custom bracket for me.

If you look closely, Louis, you will see that the base oil cooler is the same as my CB1100R cooler that I posted a picture of. Someone has made a holder out of metal strips with the brackets on the end to adapt to the CBX and slid the cooler into it.

The 13 row cooler that George mounted on his (and now my) race bike has nice adapter fittings for the hoses. Don't know where George got them. The cooler is so big, that it blocks the tach drive.

I'll need to duplicate this cooler set up on my next project.
