'A' and 'B' shim buckets

Post by bobber »

Just lowered the '82's engine to send head and cyl out for some work. Removed the shim buckets and marked where they are from but just want to be sure the A's had 4 etch marks whereas B's only the 2? Pretty sure as I've got 4 A markings on head and 4 buckets with 4 etch marks... kinda hard to mess up. Something like 0.0005" differance in diameter?
Recall seeing info about this, and it wasn't the Honda Service Manual.

If you are working with a Prolink service manual, the A and B markings of the buckets are shown on page 107, section 6-19. The "A" buckets have 4 "grooves", the "B" buckets have two. 8)

Thanks! I've got the older service manual. Had to tear engine down as got caught in some road construction in fairly hot weather and engine tightened up couple times. #4 cyl had some markings so probably need to be bored out. Only had it out twice since got new FJR and go figure this had to happen!
