Cylinder #5 not firing

I have an 82' that I've been working on for the past few years. Finally at the stage of getting ready to ride. I recently discovered that #5 doesn't fire seemingly at all.
So far I've swapped plugs with #6, no change. Tried trimming the the spark plug lead for #5 on both ends, no change.
I have not done a spark test with the plug out yet.
I'm not sure it's the coil as it seems most coils will outright die instead of loosing an output.
Not sure if it might be an igniter?

If cylinder 2 is firing it is not the igniter. You need to check for spark by pulling the plug or hooking up another plug to the wire and grounding the plug. If no spark it’s either the wire, cap or coil. If there is spark you have other issues.

I think I have seen failure of a single output of the coil on one of the CBXs I worked on a few years ago, but that could be a faulty memory on my part.

Check compression. When did you last check valve clearances ?
