81/82CBX oil problem

Post by chris flint »

I have a problem. My 81/82 prolink ( rego says it is an 81 but the frame numbers correlate as an 82 ) I have the following compression on each cylinder 150psi on no 1 and 125 on all the others.

It does not smoke at all whilst running, but here is the problem.

When I leave it for a few days on the side stand and start it, it smokes from the left set of exhausts ( they are separated ) after riding for a few hundred meters it clears and no more smoke.

Is it possible that it can be over full, and when on the side stand " it leaks into the combustion chambers some where"

any help would be appreciated

Chris

Sounds very much to me like valve stem seals. If it doesn`t burn any oil I wouldn`t worry about it. If you have to pull the head sometime I would change them then, but other than that I would leave them alone.
