'79 hasn't run in about 4 years......

Post by tchap »

My '79 hasn't seen one crankshaft revolution in about 4 years. It's been in a heated garage all this time. Any tips beyond the obvious (like fresh gas and some oil in the cylinders) to prep it before trying to get it started? I for sure don't want to mess anything up!

Thanks! :D

Welcome to the forum.

You could remove the right side crank end cover and turn the engine over a few times with a ratchet to make sure nothing is "frozen" Also you had better pray that the carbs were drained before lay up or you will probably have to remove them and clean out the jets and passageways.

There are a few good carb guys on the forum who could guide you through that one. Good luck.
