CBX cams

I am currently installing a set of Vince and Hyde chain tensioner and when I was installing the cams I noticed that there are 6mm open oil holes in the ends of each cam, these “holes” are hard rubber inserts that would only act to keep a layer of oil on the inside barrel of the cam which would then be forced out thru the oil holes in the cam journals. Is this how they are designed to oil the cam or were the ends supposed to be restricted like 750 or 900 cams, does anyone have any info on this.

They should only be partially restricted with a rubber insert on the ends - sounds like yours are correct.

DO NOT push them in any further than the inner edge of the chamfer. We had a bike with them pushed too far in and it blocked the oil passage and oil starved the cam bearing tower. The head was fine and we got lucky with a replacement cam tower, it plastigauged fine. Don't wanna go there.
