Poor acceleration

Post by Daver »

Hello I removed and overhauled the carbs last fall. The CBX has been sitting since 2001. I have insured it and put 450 miles on it without a problem. The last 100 miles or so when I pull away from a stop it acts like I need to switch to reserve. After I cross the intersection the bike goes and performs well. My thoughts are did it pick up something from the fuel tank and blocking fuel supply and low speeds. Any ideas? Thanks

Sure sounds like your low speed passages are partially clogged.
For most of us mere mortals the carb cleaning manual from Mike Nixon is a must-have. http://www.motorcycleproject.com/text/booknook.html#1
Or you can send them off to one of the CBX gods like Mike or Dave McNunn and be assured of trouble-free carb operation.
