Were to buy new chain and sprockets please for my 1980

I am looking to replace the chain and sprockets on my 1980 CBX (1000). My local Honda shop can put it all together but I want to do my due diligence and see if any of you folks out there have a suggestion that I might miss. The bike currently has the OEM equipment so I think it would be prudent for me to install a new set up.

Thanking you in advanced.

You can buy chain and sprockets virtually everywhere. Most mail order mc parts places, ebay, etc. Installation is easy. You can also have the Honda shop do it, but you pay a premium. A little more investigation also may show you that a modern chain, instead of the stock 530 unit, may offer advantages. I know of people using 525s

I am a big fan of Z1 Enterprises for aftermarket parts.
Good guys to talk to on the phone and FAST processing and shipping.

Two places that support our CBXs, but likely will not be the absolute lowest price, are TIMS CBX and CBXPerformance. Both will treat you well, and stand behind what they sell.

Personally, I'll pay a little more to keep folks who support us in business.

Agreed! Bob and Bill are both stand-up guys, I'd start there first.

Thank you for your help, I do agree with all your suggestions. I'll give Tims and CBXPerformance.

I bought a chain (530) and sprockets (18 & 42) from CBX Performance for my 80 a couple of years ago and was very happy once I'd figured out some of the nuances here. First the chain arrived with 108 links but you will only need 102 so a chain cutter/breaker will be needed. Second you have to decide if you are going to use a split link or a riveted link to join the 2 ends. If the latter then you need the riveting tool. This kit from RK both cuts and rivets the chain.

Lastly remember to grind off the rivet with a Dremel before using the cutter. If you do not do this you will break the cutting pin........yes I did that.
