You guys running the stock shock on late models - I'd be jumping all over that. The stock shock is poor and always has been. You won't believe its the same bike with a new shock. Best money you'll ever spend on suspension.

Seems the only difference is a remote preload adjuster on the more expensive model?
On the Progressive site the 465 refers to the whole series.
Anybody currently using one of these?

Thanks for including the website for folks, Steve. (A little slow, here! DUH!!) I haven't used one, yet. However, I do have one in-shipping as I speak. The $370 -1115 model. Given that I ride solo 99+% of the time, it will be set-it-and-forget-it for me. Won't be riding, though, until next Spring to give a performance report. Although, we can, certainly, take Dave's word for it.

Steve (and all), FYI: regarding the Progressive Suspension 465 shock for the '81/'82, the remote preload adjuster of the $429 shock still requires manually setting a 'course' adjustment with lock rings, same as the $370 shock. The remote adjuster is a 'tweeker'. How much tweek, I don't know. (I decided to go with the $370 manual shock.) In lieu of any feedback from any Forum member who might know, the Tech support phone at Progressive is 714.523.8700.

I just replaced the stock rear shock on my '82 Prolink with the Progressive shock. Very happy with the results. My question is how to keep the red low pressure light off since obviously there is no longer any pressure. Remove the bulb or can you simply jumper the wire that went to the pressure switch to ground?

Rocko, Just ground the wire that goes to the switch. Glad to hear you got the chassis improvement, too.

Hi, gang! I hope you'll permit this minor highjack. FYI I have a few seals for refurbing the stock shock, and more coming. As you know, the factory seals ran out some little time ago. I agree with all comments re the stock shock not being the best. See my articles on refurbing the stock shock. However, for those interested, I invite inquiries for shock reseals.

Please, a heads up. Elsewhere I noticed someone is recommending that way over the stock pressure be run in the CBX Pro-Link shock. Don't. I understand about it improving handling, but by putting much more than the factory maximum 57 psi you will -- not maybe, will -- destroy the shock. The extra pressure causes the seal to grip the large chromed body so tightly it wears the chrome off and results in a trashed, leaky shock. This is a well known issue among Honda techs. When I replace seals on these shocks I shim the spring slightly so you get the same benefit without having to over-pressurize the shock. A word to the wise, as they say.

I would check with Progressive before ordering the remote adjustable shock from Amazon.From what I see on Progressive's web site the
N465-115 does not have a remote adjuster. May be an error in Amazon's description.

You may need to add a preload sleeve to the forks with those springs. No problem. Use some PVC pipe and a couple large appropriate size flat washers. Use something to cut the pvc square. Have fun. You'll enjoy.
