Triple Tree Steering Stem

Post by EMS »

I am almost embarrased to ask that question, but I have never done this:

Pressing out the steering stem from the lower triple tree bracket, which way is it pressed out? Towards the top or towards the bottom?

Mike:
Just about to do one here tonight. The stem presses down through the triple clamp. Using a regular press is nice, but a couple of big chunks of oak blocking will knock it loose just fine. It does not have to be pressed the whole way out for the bearing to come off.

Thanks, Dave!

Presses are abundant here at work, so that wll be no issue. I am trying to press the stem out of a 79 tree and put it in a different Triple. Hope it works.

Does anyone know the thread size on the top nut of the steering stem? looks like 25mm with a fine thread.

sorry Hi I'm new to the forum but have been riding for over 30 years and can remember the CBX when they were new, I just could'nt afford one back then.
