Rear Sets

Post by Tom Neimeyer »

I would be interested in any pics and info from people who have removed the stock CBX foot plates and replaced them with newer rear sets from a CBR/VFR/GSX...... close ups would be nice.

Did you weld a new tab on the frame?

Where can I get hose (able to withstand brake fluid) to go between the rear master cylinder and the reservoir?

Did the engine/swingarm bolts protrude out and interfere with foot travel?

If so, how did you re-thread them after cutting them?

Any help is appreciated.

Cheers, Tom

I have a couple pairs of CBX rear sets from Italy a vendor provided you can check out. If one works out you can have it ...... if you do a writeup for the Xpress.

I can bring them to Vintage Days

You don't like the look of the funky, pre-historic Raasks?
They fit me perfectly even if they are hard on the eyes.

I used CBR900RR peg/brackets from a 93/94. I drilled holes in the frame. I welded sleeves in the frame and nuts to the back side. The sleeves I used are the sleeve used in the muffler hanger/rear foot peg bracket for the CBR900RR. Just get 4 of them from your friendly Honda Dealer until Louis starts parting out CBR900RR's. You'll have to do your own fabrication for passenger pegs. Make sure you have clearance for the master cyl and brake light switch. Mine are extremely oldfatguy friendly. Most aftermarket raise the pegs. Mine don't. The pegs don't stick out as much as stock so you get more ground clearance there. Plus CBX's have other lean angle limiting devices so raising the pegs isn't all that critical.

Is that hardware or fear  (for most of us) related?
