Stock exhaust or Pipemaster 6 into 6?

Post by jwalte01 »

Now that I have sold my Supertrapps I want to complete my project with the best pipes for investment purposes. I am looking for opinions from the Masters.
Which set of pipes will add the most value to the bike if I decide to sell it someday? A new set of replica stock pipes or the Pipemaster 6 into 6?
By the way they are going on a 79 model that I have brought back to original condition

Well I don't buy and sell them but I would think that an OEM set in pristine condition would be number one in 'added' value to any resto. In my opinion the replica pipes would take third behind a pristine set of Pipemasters. You wouldn't have to answer the 'are they real' question with Pipemasters.

Pipemasters have that "WOW" factor important in selling. To the collector ( no pun intended) stock pipes command respect...

Using ballpark figures, a new PipeMasters system is going to cost $2100.00 and a replica Delkavic is going to cost $1850.00.
Spending that much money on an OEM system should get you something in excellent condition. Like the other guys said stock would be the way to go.

Agree, agree and agree! No1 - Stock -422- pipes, No2 - 6-6, No3 - Delkevic replica.

I'll chime in with an "agreed" to the above, with one condition....

Don't get crazy and spend bigs bucks on a perfect set of originals. That would cost more than what value it would add. Decent originals will give you the best all-around performance (Both on the road and at gatherings) without breaking the bank.

That said, I'm looking for some nice 422 pipes for a project....

Either garage is too small or we have too many bikes. Or Momma's car needs to go outside.

I would go with stainless traps over pipemasters.

OK guys, no bickering....

A conversation overheard at a recent bike meet: "F**k me, I bet those pipes cost more than my bike !!"..... Little did they know...

How about some Schules? Only $3,113+ $79 shipping (for unpolished stainless) and they have a 10 year warranty!!! More expensive than some CBXs!!!

A Dutch chappie, Joost knows him well. I actually met him at the Euro CBX rally this year. Quality kit for sure but I fear he has missed the boat on the majority of sales, due to the prior availability of DKs. Hope I'm wrong though....
