New Exhaust

I wonder: I have some connections to a place that does nice stainless steel exhaust work. I could probably persuade them to come up with a 6-1 or 6-2 header. Just the header, not the muffler. The advantage would be everybody could use their own muffler(s) depending on what stage of tuning they run. There are a ton of aftermarket "slip-ons" available that could probably be made to fit.
What is everybody else's opinion?? Is that worth looking into?

I might be interested in double wall headers. I'd still like to know why chromers don't, won't or can't rechrome a set of used headers. They should be able to plug the holes so that their (baths) do not get fouled by what's inside. My mufflers look much better than my headers do, on both bikes.

I would think that it would be worth looking into. I like the idea of using a modern slip on. There are so many different types of slip on's available.

A 6-2 would probably be what most guys would be interested in.

The Bassani would be a good exhaust to try to duplicate for a 6-1. It was nice because it fit tight to the bike and was barely noticeable. It's muffler was similar in size to a lot of new slip on's.

Mike, If you don't mind, would it be OK to place your request on the UK CBX club board ? May get some interest there if shipping isn't too limiting ?

Sure, Larry. I don't think shipping for just the header set would be a problem.

I will discuss this with them and ask what a run of maybe 50 would cost.

Hey EMS, you haven't been talking with SW have you? If so you are working with one of the best fabricators in our area.

No, Jeff, not SW. This place makes exhaust tubes and end pipes, among other things. 8) Ran into them when I was looking for bent tubes to replace a catalytic converter

piit, There have been some advances on the availability of "replica" systems on UKCBXCLUB, with Mels accord maybe they would become available to CBXCLUB members also ?? I know Mel visits the site often so I humbly defer to his judgement.....
