Bassani

Post by Kettleman »

Forgive what might be a dumb question, but I have just aquired a 79 bike recently imported into the uk from the states. So am new to the breed and to this forum.

My bike had a 6-2-1 which I have changed to a more stock looking set up, so have put the 6-2-1 on eBay
I now gather this may be a Bassani, which is a make l had never heard of before but seems to be well known in the states.
My question is, how can I tell if it is a Bassani? Could it be something similar? I don't want to mislead anyone.

Welcome to the site, Kettleman.
It is a Bassani system with a modified muffler.
The cap with the slight downturn on the end of the muffler has been added.
Looks like the auction has been ended?

Thanks Steve,
I had some problems with setting the international shipping, so I have revised and relisted under item 301871426162. I am guessing it is fairly old, as they don't seem to be available now. Initially I thought it looked a bit agricultural, but looking in more detail it does seem well made.

Something odd about your new auction.
When i look for it on EBay it does not show up under Bassani or CBX1000 but if i enter the auction number it shows up.
What categories is it listed under? Is it only listed in the UK?

If I search (without logging on as myself) on eBay ca, I can see it if I search 'cbx Bassani' but if it's not working for you I may have to relist again! I'm still not sure if it's showing the international postage...
It's definitely for sale!

Hello Kettleman, if you still have this Bassani exhaust, I love to get a few photos of where the collector at the front of the muffler slips onto the head pipes. I have one of these exhausts but it looks to have been (poorly) repaired/modified and as a result the brake pedal won't clear the collector. Thanks very much.

Hi Bill

Sorry -it sold a while back, and I don't have any close ups. The photos I did have are still visible on eBay if you search 'cbx bassani' in completed items.
I can only say mine was a very good fit and was tucked in well, there was no possibility of it being caught by the brake.
