RC Engineering exhaust

Hi guys,

I found used set of RC engineering, pipes, 6-2, ceramic coated.
They look really good and come with baffles as well. I currently have DG 6-1.
Would I have to re-jet my carbs? This guy wants $475 for them, is this a good value?
He also has supertrapp 6-1 for $575 but I don't care for shape of canister.

With the RCs, all you'll need are earplugs.

True performance exhaust, make sure you wrap your baffles with muffler packing , they come without it, seen that set on Internet, Russ Collins anything is Tried and Trued , yes you will need to re-jet , Free flowing Large tube headpipe, My Heads are Ported large, perfect pipe from a World Record champion no BS company, you will own a piece of History, nice to have something different from everyone, i have found that the Old farts i ride with wear ear plugs because the Wind in their ears is too Loud lol

Go with the RC system and buy a good multi-layered packing, Chaparral has the FMF muffler packing on sale now and it's the good long lasting packing.

Are they louder than DG?
And $475 is a good price?

I have a assortment of different baffles for my Blown GL 1500 , amazing the sound difference you can accomplish with packing..baffles without packing always seem a bit harsh and loud, My RC exhaust was ran without packing also..It's gonna get Stuffed lol , Good advise Jeff !

You certainly don't have to increase the main jet (only one the '82 carbs have). No matter the exhaust, many '80-'82s benefit from shimming the needle .020 inch or so. But if your carbs are really right, you don't need to. This subject has been exhausted before and you can search up 'jetting'.

I'm the wrong guy to ask about the RC's value - I wouldn't give you a nickel for most aftermarket exhausts (6-2 Kerkers and 6-2 Supertrapps excepted). I'd personally save my money for a reproduction stock exhaust.

I always wonder... You buy a performance exhaust and then you repack that yourself in a DIY job? Where does that leave the "performance"??? Considering the amount of work engineers at OEMs and exhaust manufacturers put in to find the right compromise between permissible noise and power, how are you going to know what to pack?

Russ Collins only had one target -- go fast straight! From what I've seen in his exhaust (I have one for my suzy) the packing was just some good cosmetics to keep sound a bit under control. A wad of fiberglas wrapped around a perforated steel cylinder stuffed into the megaphone. Good ole time hot-rodding brought to us by the same guys who delivered the 'cherry bomb' of the '50s.

The packing goes around the baffle, does not effect the inside diameter of exhaust flow, you can still see directly through just changes the impulse of the compressed noise to lower the pitch

yes ! the Ceramic coating is around $ 300 bucks itself, and try to find another set of these , btw i can't find the link anymore ?
