Alternator output correction

How can I verifie the voltage output is good at the altenator before the regulator . I don't want to frie another reg

I'm guessing when I was getting the voltage spikes that may have been the regulator going out.any thoughts on this greatly appreciated.i appreciate all the time and support that has been given to this multiple problem nightmare.

As a car mechanic, I have fitted thousands of plugs of all makes
and only had a few electrodes come loose and rattling around, never had one fall out though.
