Meter cushions DIY

I needed meter cushions and didn't fancy paying through the nose for NOS.
Its only a ring of foam.
I got a local supplier to make up strips of foam 6x15.
I then made a fixture on my milling machine and fed the rubber through to make the groove.
I had to do it in small cuts but it only took a few minutes to cut a length.
Results are a perfect job.

That is a great idea you got there. Where did you get the material? I am on it.

Re: material density, contact any gasket company and ask for the most dense foam they have cut into 6x15 strips.

I found 3/8" (9.5mm) backer rod as an excellent speedo and tach cushion. Backer rod is readily available at any hardware store and is made of closed foam - therefore waterproof. This easy solution DOES NOT work for the voltmeter.

That's quite ingenious! For everyone's info, at least here in the states, the speedo/tach cushions are still available from Honda for $15/each. Voltmeter is not, but buy a 3rd and make that one. I wouldn't call that price exorbitant, especially when you look at the price of most CBX stuff.

Yes, Louis, I forgot that you still had the voltmeter cushions, in fact I got a couple from you a while ago. Sorry for the oversight!
